Starman and spacetime

Starman and spacetime

Sculpture: Metal on Iron.

“Starman and the space time” it is part of a limited series of sculptures called “metal landscape” which are characterized by being made on metal panels to be positioned mainly on the wall. Two treated panels, corroded by time and by the action of substances, were assembled and worked with the action of abrasive tools. As in an archaeological restoration, different layers of the surface have been eliminated or highlighted (descialbo). Once the work on the surfaces was finished, influenced by it, three-dimensional figures and sculptures were inserted that complete the work and tell a story. In this case it is the story of Starman (and of humanity) who, with his historical, scientific and cultural baggage, stretches out his hand and escapes from his own limits of space time and leaves for interstellar journeys (interstellar spaceship top left)
with all the difficulties and paradoxes that this entails. . Personally, I am very moved by the contrast between the warm figure of the ancient sculpture of Elena and the metallic and futuristic figuration of the context. The shine, opacity and colors of the corrosions have been stopped over time by a layer of transparent spray paint.
